It's no surprise to us that our work is internationally loved but we still get a kick out of it to see someone write about us in a different language. The blog "I Watch Music" posted about Ghost Walking. Google Translate is telling us it's Polish. Here's the translation according to Google.

"Heavy metal Lamb of God has just released his sixth album "Resolution". Album promotes the music video for Ghost Walking realized by the guys from the studio More Frames. A Fistful of Alternate Audio Takes

Just recently, longtime friend and comrade of MoreFrames, Matt Kappel, unearthed this bit from the Clint Eastwood classic, A Fistful of Dollars. It represents a long-buried alternate audio track from a pivotal scene; if allowed to remain, it certainly would've changed the overall tone of the film. Did Sergio Leone make the right decision in the final cut? It's difficult to say, but this clip makes for an interesting history lesson, whatever the case.

Moonboy: The French-Canadian Remix

Not too long ago, Adam Calfee was contacted by French-Canadian group Godlalune with the prospect of licensing "Moonboy" to be appropriated for the music video for their song "Confus." Calfee's a good sport, and said, "OK, Godlalune." It's finally done, up on YouTube, and here it is. The song is all in French, but even if you don't necessarily understand what they're singing about, it's a fascinating experience. Just goes to show, MoreFrames crosses every border.

Sure, you'll need to set up an account with Aniboom if you don't already have one, but it's quick and free, and most importantly, worth it. Tell your friends to vote, and tell your friends to tell their friends to vote. Even if you know someone you wouldn't necessarily call your friend, but they're kinda OK, ask them to vote too. If "Sligs" wins the contest and ends up on Sesame Street, you can give yourself full credit for having put it there -- and rightfully so.

It seems like it's been a pretty long time since our last blog post. And it seems like that because it's true. Things have been busy around here, and that's good for us, and, ultimately, for you. But it's also gotten in the way of relaying one of the greatest potential experiences life could ever provide you. That experience is Ponyo.

Ponyo, directed by Hayao Miyazaki (director of Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, etc., etc., etc.), was released in Japan in 2008 and distributed by Disney in the States last year. According to animenewsnetwork.com, Ponyo opened in 927 U.S. theaters, compared to 36 for Howl's Moving Castle, 26 for Spirited Away, and 38 for Princess Mononoke, all of which were also distributed by Disney. While it's too bad those other films didn't get much of a marketing push -- although I remember Spirited Away getting a healthy amount of mainstream attention during its Stateside release -- it feels natural that they would've ramped up the awareness for this one. It's Miyazaki's most family-friendly effort in quite a while, and everyone knows that Disney's marketing department is in top form when they're selling to the family demographic. Not that there's anything wrong with that, especially in this case.

Ponyo is, in a word, adorable, and one of the most delightful films I've seen in years, animated or otherwise. Loosely based on the story of The Little Mermaid, it follows Ponyo, a tiny fish girl who borrows some of her father Fujimoto's magic to visit the surface. She's found by a young boy named Sosuke, and the two immediately become attached. Fujimoto goes after Ponyo, enraged that she would ever want to live on dry land, and attempts everything in his power to get her back into the ocean. And that's about all I can tell you. I know that base plot description doesn't sound like it lends itself to very much excitement, story arc, or even originality, but you'll have to trust me. The beauty is in the details: The facial expressions; the minute attention to how characters move, behave, and interact; the art direction and the complex mechanics of the animation itself. And that isn't to say the film isn't without its exciting and heart-wrenching moments. It may not possess the epic sprawl of Princess Mononoke or the enveloping and wholly bizarre atmosphere of Spirited Away, but it is very much its own entity. As much as you may not think you're interested in letting Miyazaki feed you a giant, heaping bowl of cute, it's impossible not to be enchanted, amazed, and inspired. Not everything has to be completely hard-core and in-your-face bombastic. Sometimes you need a relatively quiet moment to calm down a bit and let yourself be reminded that the world isn't such a terrible place after all, and can be, in fact, quite wonderful.

Watch Ponyo. Buy it, rent it, borrow it from your friends. Just support it, and no regrets will follow. Ponyo needs you.

First of all, we just finished a brand new short, "Sligs Pave the Road to Success." It's probably your new favorite thing. Not just your new favorite animated short, but your new favorite thing out of all the things you've ever known about. Second:

"Sligs" has been entered in Aniboom.com's Sesame Street competition. If we win the grand prize, we can end up with some work on Sesame Street. Yes, that Sesame Street. Public voting hasn't actually started yet, and we'll let you know when that happens so you and your friends can vote the crap out of it. For now, we just need views and ratings. The other day during lunch I was perusing Vimeo (the MoreFrames Vimeo page can be found here, of course), looking for new and interesting things to keep me occupied so I didn't fall asleep while eating my ramen. Somehow I bumped into the music video for the song "Joey" by the band Boy. Produced by creative collective Fluorescent Hill, it sports an illustrative quality, reproducing the ink and wash style of an old-fashioned storybook. This may sound like the type of thing you've come across before, but I can't say I've ever seen this particular style implemented so successfully. The drawings are spot-on and the animation is smart; quite a few modern motion graphics techniques are utilized, but somehow it still feels genuine. Watch it twice if you must -- then go back to MoreFrames. Remember who sent you.
